The Young Magicians Club is a youth initiative of The Magic Circle, the world's premier magical society. Formed in 1996, the mission of the club is to promote the performance of magic by the young people of today (aged between 10 and 18) and encourage them in their chosen art form so that they can grow into the fine magicians of tomorrow.

To do this The Magic Circle uses its vast knowledge and experience to instruct, encourage and entertain the members of The Young Magicians Club.

  • A pack of cards should always be brought.

In the morning we have the usual format for the Member Performance Of The Month competition. Anyone present can sign up to perform one trick.  All those present vote for the best performance.

Then in the AFTERNOON –Once again we are thrilled at the three top professional magicians from The Magic Circle that we have teaching workshops.

Chris Wood is back with us.  We know he is one of the favourites of our members and he is our Card worker this month.  Following his normal practice, he has selected three card items, one self-working, one requiring basic or simple sleights and one for more advanced card workers.  There will be something for everyone!

We welcome back David Weeks this month and he is doing some more work on presentation skills.  He is going to be focussing on such matters as the image you portray by your appearance and how you should approach the characterisation in your performance.  He is the examinations officer for The Magic Circle so the older ones present might take advantage of him being there at lunchtime to talk to him about graduating from the Young Magicians Club to The Magic Circle.

Our third workshop presenter is someone very special who has not done a YMC workshop before.  We are delighted to welcome the one-and-only Terry Herbert.  His children's magic is legendary but he is equally accomplished as a close-up and cabaret performer.  He is going to be doing a basic masterclass in the "paddle move" Assuming they arrive on time, everyone present will receive a free trick to help master this basic but versatile move.  Terry will also share three routines that are part of his professional repertoire which use the move but there are dozens of variations available once you have mastered the basic move.We really do get some of magic's top names to teach you.

Optional additional Saturday Night Show
Please note:  there IS an Ali Bongo Saturday Show after the workshop this month.
